Kiosk at the entrance

A tablet at the entrance becomes a time clock: everyone clocks there with a PIN or RFID chip, without their own device. The kiosk is a separate, lean application – a kiosk device can reach nothing but the kiosk interface.

Set up a device

As admin, under Company → Kiosk devices → Add device, enter a name (e.g. "Tablet entrance"). Punchify shows an activation code valid for 15 minutes.
On the tablet open https://<your domain>/kiosk and enter the code.
Optionally install the page as an app or use the tablet's kiosk mode so only Punchify is visible.

A device can be revoked under Kiosk devices at any time.

PIN and chip

PIN: Each person sets their kiosk PIN (4–8 digits) under Settings, or an admin sets it under People. After 5 wrong attempts the PIN is locked for 15 minutes; an admin can lift the lock by setting a new PIN.
RFID chip: A USB reader that works like a keyboard is enough. An admin assigns the chip under People: select the "RFID chip" field and hold the chip to the reader. Under Company → Kiosk devices you can choose whether signing in with a chip also requires the PIN.

What the kiosk shows

Dashboard: one tile per person – green at work, yellow on a break, grey absent. The presence display can be switched off centrally for the company; all tiles are then neutral.
After signing in: clock in, break, clock out; balance, the current week, leave account and leave taken, recent entries.
Request leave – with a substitute if that is mandatory for the person.
Monthly report by email – as PDF and CSV, only to the stored email address, at most three times a day. If no email delivery is configured, a notice asks the person to contact the admin.

Separate address for the kiosk

With PUNCHIFY_KIOSK_HOST (see configuration) kiosk devices reach Punchify under a separate address, e.g. kiosk.time.yourcompany.com. Only the kiosk is available there – no sign-in, no administration. A prepared block in the Caddyfile is uncommented for this; the DNS record must also point to the server.

Hardware

A standard tablet with a wall mount and a USB RFID reader is enough. We offer a ready-configured package of tablet, reader and chips on request.
