Licence
Punchify is not open-source software. Every installation needs a licence key, entered in .env as PUNCHIFY_LICENSE_KEY.
Licence types
| Licence | For whom | Term |
|---|---|---|
| Free | self-hosted, up to 5 people | no expiry |
| Trial | everyone, self-hosted or hosted | 60 days |
| Subscription | by team size, see pricing | monthly or yearly |
You get a key via the form on punchify.app. Every active account that can clock counts as a person – including admins and kiosk-only users; deactivated people don't count. Once the limit is reached, no further people can be added.
Daily licence check
The installation reports to https://admin.punchify.app once a day. Only the following is transmitted:
- a random identifier of the installation,
- the licence key,
- version and address of the installation,
- the number of active people.
No names, no times, no other personal data. The answer is signed; an extension or change of the licence takes effect with the next check, without entering a new key.
If the connection is missing or the licence expires
- After 48 hours without a confirmed check, a notice appears at the top.
- After 30 days without a check, after expiry or if a licence is suspended, Punchify switches to restricted mode: signing in, clocking in/break/out, one's own overview and exporting all data remain possible; administration and other features are locked.
- As soon as a check is confirmed again or a valid key is entered, everything is unlocked immediately.
Your data is always kept and can be exported.
If the server cannot reach admin.punchify.app, check outgoing HTTPS (port 443), proxy and firewall. Admins see a more detailed cause below the notice.
